Whangamata is also home of the Beach Hop, a five day celebration of 50's & 60's culture and lifestyle with hot rod cars, clothing, music and events of that era. Beach Hop's humble beginnings has grown from 4000 people to 70,000 in five years and is now New Zealand's biggest 50's & 60's nostalgia festival.
Only an hour's drive to Cathedral Cove, Hot Water Beach, two hours to Coromandel Town and Auckland, New Zealand's biggest city, a short 35 minute drive to Waihi, Whangamata is an ideal destination to base your Coromandel experience from. This will be an awesome weekend of Brit filled fun. SEAGULL RACING - We can now confirm the BRITS 4 committee will be organizing a Seagull Race for Brits4. A big thanks to Whangamata Coastguard, Whangamata Harbourmaster and Andy Murray (Seagull Fan!) for their assistance in the planning of this event. GURNYING COMPETITION - Especially for those that can pull a face, and in particular those with false teeth (or so I'm told) BRITS4 will be running a "Gurnying" Competition on the main stage at the Great British Village Fete around 1pm. KNOTTED HANKY COMPETITION - This will happen at the Great British Village Fete around 1.30pm. You will be given a hanky and you will have to tie a knot in each corner and get it on your head - first to complete the task WINS - and we'll have some fab prizes for you too! |
